Want to travel light, eat your gear
Published on

I saw this site for the first time a couple of years ago and I forgot about it.  Then yesterday I found it again.  It's just as funny the second time as the first.

Here's the basic concept.  You're on a multi-day backpacking trip and you just got past the steep stuff so you no longer need your trekking poles.  Why not eat them?  Same thing applies to your tarp tent.  Each day you strip off one piece and eat it for dinner.  By the end of the trip you have completely eliminated that weight from your backpack.  In fact, in the final stretches, why not eat your backpack too!?

If this is compelling then you should definitely check out Eastern Active Technologies (EAT for short).

Here's an example of their products:

ProteinStix - Tasty treats that are easy on the knees. Our high-protein trekking poles are sturdy enough to support one's weight on the trail and still satisfy the meanest hunger in camp.

How can you turn down a product like that?
