Thai Coffee on the trail
Published on

Thai CoffeeI'm not done experimenting with coffee yet. A couple of weeks ago I read that a hiker suggested using instant Thai Coffee. I've written about coffee before but last time I suggested Turkish Coffee, not Thai coffee.  However, I'm a huge fan of Thai food and I've enjoyed iced Thai coffee in the past so I had to give this stuff a try.

So immediately after reading about this stuff I ordered it from ImportFood.com.  What I received didn't exactly match the picture on the site but it was what they claimed it would be.

I tried it and it's pretty good - that is if you like sweet and creamy coffee.  I'm pretty sure this stuff would be trivial to make at home, the ingredients on the back are:

  • 48% Dairy Creamer
  • 27% Sugar
  • 25% Coffee Powder

As I see it, the advantages of this stuff are:

  • You can drink it cold
  • It tastes pretty good
  • Seems like it has a lot of caffeine
  • It's already prepackaged for a single cup

The disadvantages are:

  • It's about 1 oz per packet (the price of carrying real sugar)
  • It's almost over-the-top sweet.
